Fourth of July Celebration at Great Meadow

Great Meadow, The Plains..... Gates open at 4pm

The bombastic Great Meadow 4th of July celebration featuring the most impressive
firework production in the region includes shells 20% larger than the biggest shells
used at the display on the Mall in Washington, DC.  The fireworks are amazing as
light up the dark sky and the hills of the Virginia Piedmont.  The staff of the Great
Meadow Foundation plan and organize this fun-filled day of events with entertainment
tailored to the families of all ages.  There’s something for everyone with pony rides,
aerial displays, rock walls, petting farms, rural living demonstrations and much,
much more.  The gates open at 4:00 pm when the fun begins. $

Great Meadow, host to the Virginia Gold Cup steeplechase races, is a world class
international polo field that has been described as one of the best playing surfaces
between New York and Aiken. Great Meadow Polo Club has over 75 playing members,
making it one of the largest in the region.
During the summer more than 20,000 fans - young professionals as well as families --
gather at Great Meadow with tailgates and picnics to watch the Twilight Polo program.
Two matches are held every Saturday night beginning at 7:00 P.M. (gates open at 6:30
P.M) until mid-September. Stay after the polo matches for moonlight music and dancing.

dance, folk music and more.
Many people bring picnics to enjoy during the show. People of all ages are welcome.
All Bluemont concerts are smoke-free and alcohol is prohibited. Pets are not allowed

Western Vacation Package at The Marriott Ranch

Enjoy three days in the saddle while taking in some breathtaking scenery on J. W. Marriott's
working cattle ranch. Guests will learn basic horsemanship skills and cattle handling
techniques as they check herds and ride fences. Guests will be entertained one evening
by local musicians. The resident cowboy and cowgirl will teach you how to throw a lasso
and shape a cowboy hat. There is a half-day tubing trip on the Shenandoah River with this

World Equestrian Games Preparatory Trials

Great Meadow Events Center.....

Dressage on Saturday morning;
Stadium Saturday night (gates open at 6:30pm);
Cross Country on Sunday morning.
David O'Connor, Chef d'Equipe of the US Equestrian Team eventing squad has named
Great Meadow as the site of the preparatory trials for the upcoming Alltech FEI World
Equestrian Games and will conduct activities on the primary property. Dressage and
show jumping will be tested in the existing arena and cross-country will be tested on
the existing racecourse.
The trials are to be held at Great Meadow in advance of the
international competition held in Normandy, France, August 23 - September 7.
The list of competitors will include the nation's finest horses and riders in the
