The "Oldest Pony Show in America," the five day event is an "A" rated USEF
junior/amateur hunter horse show. Very special because of the active junior
volunteer participation with the adults. Every year a large portion of the profits
are donated to charity.

Families, youth groups, marching bands, strolling entertainment and pets are welcome!
Bring anything that rolls... strollers, bikes, wagons, scooters, tricycles, carts, etc.
Decorating starts at 9:30am at 5th and Main Street.  Bring your own or use ours!

Ice Cream provided by Carousel for the children after the parade! Entertainment by
the Fauquier Community Band!

Fourth of July Celebration at Great Meadow

Great Meadow, The Plains..... Gates open at 4pm

The bombastic Great Meadow 4th of July celebration featuring the most impressive
firework production in the region includes shells 20% larger than the biggest shells
used at the display on the Mall in Washington, DC.  The fireworks are amazing as
light up the dark sky and the hills of the Virginia Piedmont.  The staff of the Great
Meadow Foundation plan and organize this fun-filled day of events with entertainment
tailored to the families of all ages.  There’s something for everyone with pony rides,
aerial displays, rock walls, petting farms, rural living demonstrations and much,
much more.  The gates open at 4:00 pm when the fun begins. $

Great Meadow, host to the Virginia Gold Cup steeplechase races, is a world class
international polo field that has been described as one of the best playing surfaces
between New York and Aiken. Great Meadow Polo Club has over 75 playing members,
making it one of the largest in the region.
During the summer more than 20,000 fans - young professionals as well as families --
gather at Great Meadow with tailgates and picnics to watch the Twilight Polo program.
Two matches are held every Saturday night beginning at 7:00 P.M.(gates open at 6:30
P.M) until September 13, 2008 and many stay after the games to enjoy moonlight
dancing to the music of a DJ.
New in 2008: Enjoy the a sampling of the region's best food from Market Salamander
and Boss Hawg BBQ to be purchased on site. Enjoy a bottle of wine by the flickering
fire cressets on our brand new entertainment deck as the polo players gallop by.
